In memory of

Dr. Kenneth Kaan

Ladies and gentlemen,

On behalf of the Kam To Tai Chi Chuan Association, I am here today to honor and pay our deepest respects to our beloved member, Dr. Ken Kaan.

Ken, together with May, shared the unwavering passion of Tai Chi. Spanning almost two decades from 2001, Ken attended our classes regularly and dedicated himself to learning and improvement. His commitment not only enriched his own life but also led to the growth of our community, as he introduced friends to join us. This even led to the establishment of classes at the Hollyburn Country Club.

Ken’s enthusiasm for Tai Chi extended beyond the classroom. He joined me and fellow members in demonstrations at various community events to showcase the beauty of the art and to promote its health benefits. From the Dragon Boat Festival to the Asian Heritage Month Family Day, he wholeheartedly shared the joy of Tai Chi with others.

His involvement went even further. During our annual Chinese New Year celebrations, Ken and May generously order a roasted pig for everyone to enjoy. This heartwarming tradition became a special part of our festivities, bringing joy to all who attended, and creating lasting memories.

As years passed and following Ken's retirement, the couple started travelling more frequently, leading to fewer class attendances and club involvement. Yet, their dedication to Tai Chi remained steadfast. Wherever they were, they persisted in their practice, enjoying the benefits and pleasures that Tai Chi brought to their lives. When home, they cherished the chance to reconnect with Tai Chi old friends, keeping the bonds through shared passion.

Today, as we gather to celebrate Ken's life, let us fondly recall the dedication, passion, and joy he brought to our association. Ken, your memory will forever reside in our hearts. Thank you for being a part of our Tai Chi family.
